- Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs) who have held PR status for at least 2 years, and are employed in Singapore.
- Spouses who have been married to a Singapore citizen for a minimum of 2 years.
- Children born abroad to Singaporean citizens.
- Aged parents of Singapore citizens.
- PR students who have resided in Singapore for over 3 years and have studied here for at least 1 year.

Documents You Must Prepare First

How the Application Process Works

Step 1: Submit Online via ICA’s e-Service
All applications are submitted through the ICA’s online e-Service portal. You must log in with your Singpass.
Step 2: Complete the Application Form (Form 4)

Step 3: Upload All Supporting Documents
Upload clear, scanned copies of all necessary documents. Avoid large file sizes and unreadable scans.
Step 4: Pay the Processing Fee
A non-refundable fee of S$100 is payable at the time of submission.

Step 6: Receive Approval in Principle (AIP)
If successful, you will receive an AIP letter. This is not the final approval yet.
Step 7: Renounce Your Foreign Citizenship
Singapore does not allow dual citizenship. You must renounce your previous citizenship before being granted Singaporean citizenship.
Step 8: Complete the Citizenship Formalities
This includes the Singapore Citizenship Journey (SCJ) which is a compulsory online programme and community sharing session.
Step 9: Attend the Oath-Taking Ceremony
Once all conditions are met, you will be required to take the Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty at ICA. After that, you will officially become a Singapore Citizen.
