Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) / Dependent Pass ​

Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) in Singapore is a type of visa issued to foreigners who wish to stay in Singapore for an extended period of time.

The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) is for a common-law spouse, step-child or handicapped child (under 21 years old) of an Employment Pass or S Pass holder. 

To apply for a LTVP, the applicant must be sponsored by a Singapore citizen or permanent resident who is either a spouse, parent, child or grandchild. The sponsor must also meet certain eligibility criteria, such as income and housing requirements.

There are 2 types of Long Term Visit Pass issued by 2 different Singapore government agencies: 
  1. Issued by the ICA – This LTVP functions like an extension of an existing Short-Term Visit Pass. This is applicable to foreign visitors who wish to stay in Singapore for over 30 days that the Short-Term Visit Pass permits.
  2. Issued by the MOM – This is applicable to the family members of foreign employees who are not eligible for the Dependant’s Pass, but wish to live with their family members in Singapore.

For Long Term Visit Pass, there is also another type which is known as the Long Term Visit Pass Plus ( LTVP+) has a longer period of residency and comes with healthcare and training subsidies and it’s issued by ICA. 

Eligibility for Application of Long Term Visit Pass - from ICA:

  1. Spouse of a Singaporean citizen.
  2. Spouse of a Singapore Permanent Resident.
  3. The dependant child (below age 21) of a Singaporean Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  4. The parent of a Singaporean Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  5. Graduate from a Higher Learning institution who wishes to be employed in Singapore.
  6. The mother or grandmother of a young foreigner who is studying in Singapore with a Student’s Pass.
  7. Foreigner seeking permission to give birth in Singapore.
  8. Couples who have at least one Singaporean child from their marriage will be eligible to apply for the LTVP+.

Eligibility for Application of Long Term Visit Pass - from MOM:

  1. Hold an Employment Pass or S Pass.
  2. Earn a minimum fixed monthly salary of $6,000. This is based on your salary, and not based on your combined household income.
  3. Are sponsored by an established, Singapore-registered company (usually your employer).
  4. You can apply for a Long Term Visit Pass for your parents is your earning is over $12,000 (monthly fixed salary).
  5. You hold a Singapore EntrePass (a visa scheme for foreign entrepreneurs to establish startups in Singapore).
To bring your Your minimum total annual business spending You must hire at least
Children/Spouse $100,000 3 Local Qualifying Salary (also known as full-time employees) or 1 local professional, manager or executive
Parents $200,000 6 Local Qualifying Salary (also known as full-time employees) or 2 local professional, manager or executive

About Dependant Pass

A Singapore Dependant’s Pass (DP) is a relocation visa issued to selected family members of Employment Pass, S Pass holders, EntrePass holders or Personalised Employment Pass (PEP) holders.

So what is the difference between LTVP and Dependant Pass?

While they share some similarities, there are also some key differences between the two:

Eligibility  Issued to a wider range of family members, including the legally married spouse or unmarried children (under 21 years old) of a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or Employment Pass holder. Issued to the legally married spouse or unmarried children (under the age of 21) of an Employment Pass or S Pass holder
Employment  Not allowed to work in Singapore Can work in Singapore, but they have to secure their own work visa.
Benefits  Only eligible to stay in Singapore for a longer period of time.  Enjoy similar benefits as their main pass holder in terms of healthcare, education and access to housing.  They can also apply for Permanent Residency.
Validity period  Can be issued for up to 2 years initially, and is renewable thereafter. LTVP+ can be issued for up to 3 years initially and is renewable for up to 5 years subsequently Usually valid for the same duration as the main pass holder’s work visa

Application documents required Long Term Visit Pass Dependant Pass 
For Common-law spouse  – Copy of the common-law marriage certificate. A copy of the particulars passport page
For Common-law spouse  – An affidavit by the work pass holder and their spouse declaring that they are in a common-law relationship recognised under the laws of their home country/region. The affidavit must also be notarised in their home country/region. A copy of the marriage certificate (for a legally married spouse)
For Common-law spouse  A letter from the home country/region’s embassy of the work pass holder or spouse acknowledging that they are in a common-law relationship recognised under the laws of their country/region. A copy of the official birth certificate (for children under 21)
For Unmarried handicapped children aged 21 and above  – A letter or report from a medical practitioner on the child’s condition. A copy of the adoption order (for adopted children under 21)
For Unmarried stepchildren under 21 years of age  – A copy of the court order on the child’s custody. – A letter from the other biological parent stating there is no objection to bringing the child to Singapore. – Verification of Vaccination Requirements (for entry to Singapore) document issued by HPB is needed for foreign-born children who meet these conditions:
  • Aged 12 years old and below.
  • Applying for a new LTVP – this includes those whose LTVPs have expired or been cancelled for more than 30 days.
  • Existing DP, LTVP and Student’s Pass holders do not need this document.
Verification of Vaccination Requirements (for entry to Singapore): This document is issued by the Health Promotion Board for foreign-born children aged 12 years old and below and applying for a new DP.
For Parents  A copy of the work pass holder’s birth certificate that states the names of the parents.
